A LADIES street market offering accessories, clothing and shoes for ladies will likely be set up along Leith Street.
State Tourism Development and Environment Committee chairman Teng Chang Yeow said recently that the market would take after the night market concept.
“The idea has just been mooted and it has to be discussed with the Night Market Traders Association before a proposal is submitted to the Penang Municipal Council,” Teng told reporters after opening the Red Garden Food Paradise at 20, Leith Street.
He expected the nod to be given for the market by end of the year.
Teng said the market was among the ideas mooted by the Upper Pe-nang Road Committee to turn the place into a tourist attraction.
Earlier in his speech, Teng said he was delighted that the Red Garden Food Paradise was promoting fine food and shopping under one roof.
The outlet has 34 hawker stalls selling local favourites and 26 retail outlets.
