KUANTAN: An Indonesian who was spending the night at a budget hotel at Jalan Bukit Ubi here, died when a fire broke out in the building at about 11pm on Wednesday night.
The foreigner was only identified as Tamrin, 35.
According to state fire and rescue department public relations officer, Anuar Hassan, the charred remains of Tamrin was found in one of the hotel rooms after the fire was put out.
``His body was then sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for post mortem,'' he said here on Thursday.
He added that 25 fire and rescue personnel from Jalan Bukit Ubi, which was located not far from the hotel, rushed to the scene after receiving a call at 11.03pm.
It also took nine minutes for the two fire engines and two vans to help put out the fire, preventing it from spreading to the next building, Anuar said.
They were still investigating the cause of the fire and damage incurred by the hotel owner, he added.
