Perak hopes to attract some three million tourists during Visit Malay-sia 2007.
One million tourists are expected to visit places of interests in Ipoh, said Perak Tourism Action Council general manager Rahmad Ithnin.
“Each will be here for at least one-and-a-half-days and spend about RM400 on food and lodging.
“We project that Perak will rake in RM1.2bil from the industry this year,” he told reporters recently.
He was speaking after presenting goodie bags to passengers of Karti-ka airline who arrived in Ipoh from Medan, Indonesia.
Ipoh Datuk Bandar Datuk Rafiai Moktar, who was also present, urged shopping complexes to decorate their premises to attract tou-rists.
“This is in line with the Tourism Ministry’s aim of making the country a holiday destination and shopping haven,” he said.
