Marriage Package on Offer - only RM2,999

MALACCA: Non-Malays, regardless of religions and race, will now have a chance to experience a traditional Malay wedding by having their wedding at Taman Mini Malaysia and Asean at Ayer Keroh, Malacca.

The traditional Malay wedding package starts from RM2,999. There are three different packages – the Jebat Laksana (Warrior Package), Tuah Sanjungan (Prince Package) and Teja Jelita (Princess Package) – for one to choose from.

For all: Raina Karffman, 64, from Germany dancing with Zaina, one of the performers of the traditional dance at Taman Mini Malaysia in Ayer Keroh, Malacca.
Couples will have a first hand experience of a traditional Malay wedding, including the bersanding ceremony, traditional performances, kompang group and the tepung tawar ceremony.

“We want to show the world the beauty of the traditional Malay wedding ceremony, including its decorations, traditions, outfits, wedding paraphernalia and others,” said Nor Aniza Idris, managing director of Taman Mini Malaysia and Asean.

She claimed that the wedding package received a good response and there were orders starting next month until August.

The next couple to wed under the package is a couple from Beijing, China.

Governor of Malacca Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob launched the wedding package recently. Present were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam and deputy director-general of Tourism Malaysia Razali Mohd Daud.

“I hope with this unique wedding package, Malacca will be able to attract more tourists, hitting the target of six million by the end of Visit Malaysia 2007,” said Mohd Ali.

Razali pointed out that anyone across the globe could make reservation and enquire at any Tourism Malaysia office in and outside the country.

The first couple to take up the offer was veteran comedian and actor, Aziz Sattar, 81, and his new wife Hashimah Delan, 48.

The couple was married on Dec 16 last year but decided to go through the ceremony again after being offered the package by the organisers.

Tourists and mass media representatives from Sweden, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, China and Malaysia were at Taman Mini Malaysia and Asean to witness the launch and experience the traditional wedding of Aziz and Hashimah.

The tourists even took part in the traditional dances.
