PARIS - AirAsia signed contracts on Monday to buy 50 medium range Airbus A320 airliners and took an option for another 50, Airbus said.
The catalogue price for the initial 50 passenger jets comes to US$3.3 billion.
In 2005-2006, AirAsia had already bought 100 A320s. "We hope to have a fleet size of two hundred aircraft.
We are very happy with the A320, especially in terms of fuel use," deputy chief executive Kamarudin Meranum said.
