The state has also targeted an additional one million tourists this year over the four million last year.
State Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Lim Thuang Seng feels that meeting the target will not be a problem.
He said the events were being organised by the private sector and the state government.
However, he said the state had selected some 20 that would be promoted throughout the year as major tourism events with the support of the tour operators.

Several sporting events such as the F1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang and the Water Festival in Bagan Lalang in Sepang will also be held, along with the Eco Extreme Challenge in Kuala Kubu Baru in Hulu Selangor, the International Jugra Para Gliding Selangor Open in Kuala Langat, the Selangor annual Champion of Champion Golf Championship, the Japan GT Championship, the Batu Caves Tanggathon and the Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race.
“We will have the Twin Festival, Megasale, Citrarasa Malaysia in Klang, Bon Odori and the 50th Independence Day celebration at Dataran Selangor in Shah Alam followed by the Lantern and Mooncake festivals, International Asian Lion Dance Championship, Baazar Ramadan, Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta, Asia Cup Paintball and the Yok Pigi Taman events from the third quarter and end of the year,” he added.
