A NEW method of stealing from the public has surfaced, after several reports were lodged against a group exchanging bags of their victims at hotel lobbies.
Acting city police chief Senior Asst Comm (I) Zul Hasnan Najib Baharudin said a foreign syndicate was believed to be behind this.
So far, the police have arrested two men in connection with such cases.
He said the suspects were well dressed and would exchange similar briefcases and bags as that of the victims, especially at hotel lobbies, when the victims were busy eating or mingling.
“The group is active in the Golden Triangle area in Kuala Lumpur and therefore people must take care of their belongings,'' he said after receiving a van for the tourist police from the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents president Ngiam Foon at Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur recently.
