National Water Fest Month 2007 - A month-long beach fun fest

Whether you prefer water skiing, building sandcastles or catching ducks with your bare hands, the National Water Fest Month 2007 offers that and much more.

The month-long festival starting April 6 will provide participants a kaleidoscope of exciting beach activities, both traditional and modern.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Andan Tengku Mansor promised a grand three-day launch to be graced by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Dataran Lang in Langkawi on April 7.

The festival will also be held in five other venues including Danga Bay (Johor), Reggata Lepa (Semporna, Sabah), Perlis, Labuan and Pantai Puteri (Malacca).

“This year's celebration differs from the past as more than 30 sports activities would be held.

“Free transportation would also be provided at Pantai Cenang, Jeti Kuah, Air Hangat, Padang Maksirat and Awana Porto Malai on April 6th and 7th, between 7am and 2am,” he said yesterday.

Local artists will entertain the crowd. Other sports activities slated are parasailing, beach bowling, slippery pole climb, pukul bantal and tarik upih.

Competition for the Family's Most Creative Beach Picnic would also be held in Pantai Cenang, Langkawi.
