No decision yet on Express Rail Link to Singapore

A final decision on the high-speed express rail service linking the country to Singapore has yet to be made, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy.

“We are still studying the proposals and the decision will only be made after we have gone through them carefully,” he said yesterday.

Chan was asked to comment on a newspaper report that YTL Corp would start the high-speed express rail service project at the end of the year.

He had said on Nov 6 that the ministry was still studying YTL Corp’s proposed development of a US$3bil (RM10.3bil) rail link project.

YTL, owner of the railway from KL International Airport in Sepang to the city, had said it planned to take the rail unit public to raise between RM6bil and RM8bil to fund the project, if it gets the concession for the line to Singapore.
