KUCHING: Passengers will be able to save up to RM310 when flying from Peninsular Malaysia to Sabah or Sarawak with Malaysia Airlines’ new Jimat supersaver fares.
The promotion offers one-way fares at RM189 from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu or Labuan, RM159 to Miri, RM149 to Sibu or Bintulu and RM129 to Kuching.
The normal one-way fare for the Kuala Lumpur-Kota Kinabalu leg is RM499 while the fare for the Kuching-Kuala Lumpur leg is RM349.
MAS Sarawak area manager Shauqi Ahmad said the special fares would enable people, especially those from Sabah and Sarawak, to travel more.
“We hope to make travel more affordable to those with budget constraints,” he said at a press conference held at the MAS regional headquarters here yesterday.
Jimat fares, which do not include taxes and surcharges, must be purchased seven days in advance.
Travel will be on designated flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The travel period for the offer is between now and April 30.
On advance purchase fares, Shauqi said they could now be bought through MAS offices and its call centre.
Previously, they were only available through its website.
