Terengganu Resorts Gets Power from the SUN

THE seven resorts on Kapas Island, off the coast of Terengganu, will be equipped with solar-powered systems to generate electricity from May 1.

Marketed as a snorkelling destination in the east coast, the current setback on the island is the non-availability of 24-hour electricity supply in six of the seven resorts. Only Kapas Island Resort with its 60 chalets has 24-hour electricity supply. But once the solar-powered generators have been installed, all resorts will have 24-hour electric supply.

The state government will fund the project, aimed at making the resorts more eco-friendly, according to assistant state secretary for development, industry and tourism, Mr Mohd Huzairil Nizam Ibrahim.
