Bumisetia Management Sdn Bhd is investing RM1.5bil for a project, which encompasses a five-star hotel, commercial centre and restaurant to be built next to the Malacca International Trade Centre (MITC).
Work on the project, which is named Empayar Mudzaffar, would start immediately and was expected to be completed in two years.
At last Friday's ground-breaking ceremony by Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam, Bumisetia executive chairman Datuk Abdul Latiff Mirasa said Empayar Mudzaffar was not only about building a five-star boutique hotel but it would also stress on the Malacca culture and arts.
“The project would include SOHO (small office, home office) business suites and an international standard restaurant.
“Initially, the project will be funded internally. Later we will get loans from local banks,” said Abdul Latiff.
He said the hotel would have architecture elements from the Malacca Malay Sultanate and house 288 suites.
Meanwhile, Ali said the state government welcomed Bumisetia’s initiative to build a five-star hotel in the state’s new administrative capital.
He added that the state still lacked such hotels for visitors on leisure or business.
