Cathay Pacific Airways Malaysia has urged the public to be wary of a telephone scam involving an airline contest that claimed participants could win HK$24,000 (RM10,000) at a popular tourist attraction in Malaysia.
The caller, from a Hong Kong telephone number, would also ask for the “winner’s” bank account details.
Cathay Pacific denied offering cash prizes for its contest or requesting the winner’s bank account details.
The company has lodged a police report on the issue and advised people to ignore these fraudulent calls.
The airline company is currently holding the Cathay Pacific Fly and Win Contest for passengers who buy their tickets in Malaysia but the prizes for this contest do not include cash rewards.
