Tourism affected by Crime in Johor

The recent spate of crime in Johor Baru has adversely affected tourism, and the Cabinet decision to beef up police presence in the city is a welcomed one, said Deputy Tourism Minister Datuk Donald Lim.

Speaking to reporters here, Lim said: “We are concerned over the cases of crime, especially the robbery-and-rapes in Johor Baru, and hope efforts will be taken to curb them.

“We also hope the people will be more alert and try to protect themselves,” he said before opening the Muar MCA division meeting on Wednesday.

Lim said the people should also act fast by alerting the police if they see a crime, adding that everyone should be committed to curbing crime.

He said the people should also know the police hotline numbers besides the emergency phone number 999, and they should call the nearest police station for speedy action.
