BUFFET dining is popular among Malaysians because it provides diners a variety of dishes to choose from. You can say that diners are spoilt for choice with the glorious spread of food available.
But if you’re not one for buffets, there’s always the option of a la carte.
At Genting Hotel Coffee Terrace, diners have the best of both worlds. The restaurant, a favourite with Genting visitors for the last 29 years, serves a mix of local and international cuisine.
A spacious dining outlet, Coffee Terrace, can accommodate up to 600 diners. There is even a spacious private dining room that seats up to 90 people for those who want to celebrate special occasions or hold private functions.
The 24-hour outlet serves a large selection of food from six kitchens. You can take your pick of local, Nyonya, Japanese, Western, Chinese, Indian and Middle Eastern dishes or order from the ala carte menu. The signature Coffee Terrace dishes are Hainanese Chicken Rice, Nyonya Fish Head Curry, Curry Laksa and Nasi Lemak.
Buffet is served from 5.30am to 10.30am for breakfast, noon to 2.30pm for lunch, and 5pm to 9.30pm for dinner.
There is also a daily supper promotion from 10.30pm to 5.30am – Teochew porridge with 50 condiments. The a la carte menu is also available during supper hours.
According to assistant Coffee Terrace manager C. Suriah Kumar, the six kitchens operate based on an “open kitchen concept” where you can see chefs preparing the dishes.
“The Japanese kitchen serves up sushi, sashimi and teppanyaki while the Western kitchen offers pastas, grilled chicken, fish or steaks. The Chinese chef specialises in wantan (dumplings) and ramen,” he said.
The restaurant also holds several food promotions in a year. These include Malacca Food, Middle Eastern Fare, Indian Food and Johor Food. To mark special occasions, there are Valentine’s Day promotions, Prosperity Buffets during Chinese New Year and Christmas Buffets.
The Lanai Bar and lounge is a relaxing place to take a break. You can treat yourself to the beverage of your choice from the well-stocked bar or saunter to the patisserie where you can indulge in sinful and decadent cakes and pastries if you are in the mood for snacks.
