Global Wine Trail by Nikko Hotel

A DINE-AND-WINE experience at five different spots in one night is definitely a refreshing concept. And, adding to the experience, it features a selection of courses and wines from various parts of the world.

Nikko Hotel brings forth the Global Wine Trail that takes diners on a journey from the top floor of the hotel right to the ground floor as each course is served. Not only do diners get to enjoy the best of food and wine, they also get the opportunity to socialise and catch up with friends in an pleasant environment.

Served in the Royal Suite: A selection of canapes is paired with Jacob's Creek Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir at the start of the wine trail.
The unique affair begins at the Royal Suite on Level 30 where diners can whet their appetite with canapés paired with Jacob’s Creek Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir from Australia. The suite overlooks a skyline view of the heart of the city, creating a relaxing ambience. Entertained by the hotel’s resident duo with sultry jazz vocals and piano lines, guests will be treated to Baked Potatoes with Sour Cream and Caviar, Grilled Beef Fillet with Salsa, Tomato and Basil pizzaette, Fresh Salmon Tartar croutes, Rolled Salmon Ham crepes and mini Caesar Salad croustades.

Sweet delight: The Strawberries and Cream canape is paired with a sweet Ice Wine for an interesting combination to end the din
The dinner then moves on to the poolside on Level 5 where the appetiser of Carpaccio of Tuna with Balsamic and Basil Oil is served. The banquet tables are thoughtfully put together with beautiful settings while bouquets of flowers float on the pool to complement the open-air dining effect. The appetiser is very well paired with the Antinori Campogrande Orvieto Classico DOC, a white wine from Italy.

The main course takes place in the Junior Ballroom on Level 2 where the soup of Wild Mushroom Consomme with Truffle and Angel Hair Vegetables and the main of Red Wine Chicken Casserole with Garlic Mashed Potatoes are served. The soup is paired with the Concha Y Toro Trio Chardonnay from Chile while the chicken is paired with a red wine, the Robert Mondavi Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon from America. The food and wine presentation of the main course is also a pleasant experience as the waiters serve in rehearsed moves to add dramatic effect.

Crepe with Strawberry and Fresh Cream is the dessert highlight as guests move on to the hotel’s Chinese restaurant. It is served with a sweet selection of Ice Wines from Canada for an interesting end to the dinner.

However, the experience continues as guests can relax and unwind at the Lobby Lounge with port from Portugal and cigars, which is also part of the wine trail. For those who do not drink port, coffee and tea are available with a series of chocolate selections.

The wine trail will take place on June 15 and is priced at RM180 per person. The experience is limited to only 40 guests and will start at 7.30pm, continuing until late.
