KL International Airport’s (KLIA) efforts to promote commercial activities were rewarded when it was judged “The Most Outstanding Establishment in the Tourist, Hotel, Restaurant and Catering Field for the Year 2007”.

Malaysia Airports was also presented with the gold badge “Global Quality Management” as special work recognition.

Malaysia Airports senior general manager of operation services, Datuk Azmi Murad received the award at the 32nd International Award for Tourist, Hotel and Catering Industry gala dinner in Madrid, Spain on Jan 31.

“This is an acknowledgement of our effort to promote commercial activities at KLIA. The award is indeed another big accomplishment for KLIA, reaffirming its status as the World’s Best Airport,” he said.

Azmi said the achievement would augur well with the Visit Malaysia Year 2007.

The International Award for Tourist, Hotel and Catering Industry recognises the prestige of companies and organisations working for tourism and the hotel and catering trade.

KLIA won its first award for 2007 when it won “The Brand Laureate”, for Best Brands Transportation Airport 2006-2007.
