Six-star Boutique Hotel at Jalan Bukit Bintang

Pavilion KL on course to open in September 2007

KUALA LUMPUR: The Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s seven-storey “retail podium” in Jalan Bukit Bintang is on track to open its doors on Sept 20 next year, said Urusharta Cemerlang Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Zainol Mahmood.

Urusharta Cemerlang is the landowner of the project, which offers 1.37 million sq ft of retail space in the Golden Triangle. It has appointed Kuala Lumpur Pavilion Sdn Bhd project development manager.

“We would like to confirm the date of completion as early as possible so that our valued retailers and tenants would be able to plan ahead their business, such as designing their shop premises, ordering their products or undertaking renovation works,” Zainol said at the project topping-up ceremony yesterday. The event was officiated by Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Abu Seman Yusop.

Topping-up marks the critical stage in construction, when the roof is put onto the structure of the building.

To date 70%, or 950,000 sq ft, of the retail space had been taken up “by some of the best known retail brands,” said Kuala Lumpur Pavilion chief executive officer Brisco Fan.
Also expected to be ready next September is the 19-storey commercial office block of the project.

The entire project – located on a triangular-shaped 12.6-acre site and flanked
by Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan Raja Chulan – comprises the retail podium, two
blocks of luxury residential towers, a 19-storey office tower and a proposed
six-star boutique hotel.

The residential blocks, consisting of 368 units, were expected to be completed by end-2008, while the hotel would still be at the master plan stage, Fan said.

According to a company statement, international research consultants Urbis JHD had estimated retail sales of about RM1.56bil for Pavilion Kuala Lumpur for 2008.
