Malaysian Taxis Smelly

TAXI drivers in the country should observe personal hygiene and place air fresheners in their vehicles.

Nanyang Siang Pau quoted Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor as saying that he had received a complaint from a foreign investor that taxis in Malaysia were “very smelly”.

He added that the investor, who sounded European, had called him personally to demand that the Government look into the condition of taxis here.

Apart from the “weird” smell of taxis, the man also complained that the cushions were very old.
Tengku Adnan said he did not believe that all taxi drivers had a problem with hygiene but there was still a small group who could give a negative impression to the tourists.

“Therefore, I hope all taxi drivers observe personal hygiene and I also suggest that they put air fresheners in their taxis,” he added.
