VISIT MALAYSIA YEAR 2007 THEME SONG
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Y.Bhg. Datuk Dr. Victor Wee, launched the Visit Malaysia Year theme song entitled “One Golden Celebration” at the Putra World Trade Centre on Monday, 20 November 2006.
The theme song, a fusion of contemporary and traditional music composed by Ismail Paul Lingan and his team, portrays the celebration of Malaysia’s 50th anniversary of independence. It creates awareness of VMY 2007 and Malaysia’s fascinating attractions for listeners.
The VMY 2007 theme song is available in three major languages – Bahasa Melayu, English and Mandarin. The English version is used in the VMY campaign worldwide.
According to Datuk Dr Victor Wee, the 3.5 minute theme song conveys the beautiful sounds of Malaysia and has a feel good factor as its lyrics paint the Malaysian cultural tapestry with a Dikir Barat chorus expressing the richness of local culture.
The Malay and English versions of the theme song are sung by Juwita Suwito, a talented local singer and voice coach, while the Mandarin version is by Chew Paul Way, a local singer and composer. Members of the public can download the theme song from the Tourism Malaysia website.
A Postcard from Malaysia contest was also launched at the same time in an effort to draw more people to browse the Tourism Malaysia website. The winner of the online contest will win two round trip tickets to Malaysia from anywhere around the world.
Online visitors can log on to http://www.tourismmalaysia.gov.my/ to participate in the contest. There will only be eight winners for this contest which will end on 20 December 2006. Besides the contest, visitors can send beautiful postcards of Malaysia available in the website to their associates, friends and family members.
