Allegations that a man succumbed to an asthma attack due to the lack of medical emergency facilities at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) will be investigated.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said he would ask LCCT authorities to submit a report on the incident before deciding on the next step.
“I will also want to look at the medical report on the man’s death. Based on an incident some months ago, we have already enhanced the medical facilities at LCCT.
“So I will look into these reports before we can take the appropriate steps to improve the facilities. After all, this is in public interest. But at this point, it will not be fair for me to say anything,” he told reporters after the weekly Cabinet meeting here yesterday.
Chan was responding to a report in a Chinese daily claiming that the man, who was a passenger flying in from Tawau, died at the LCCT early Tuesday morning because there was no emergency room to treat him at the terminal.
Last July, actor and Roda Impian host Hani Mohsin Hanafi, 43, died of a heart attack after collapsing at the AirAsia counter at the terminal while he was preparing to take a flight home to Kangar, with his daughter.
