She said the appointment was part of the ministry's moves to promote Malaysia at the international level, especially in the United Kingdom.
"As we all know, Jimmy Choo is a world-renowned shoe designer whose exclusive and high-quality designs have been recognised worldwide.
"So, we hope when he makes working visits or attends fashion shows in other countries, he will be recognised not only as the famous shoe designer, but also as a Malaysian who will promote the country and its uniqueness to the world."
She said this after opening 'A Tribute To Terengganu Songket' exhibition at the Pavillion shopping mall here today.
Meanwhile, Choo said that although he was living in London, it was his responsibility to promote Malaysia as a unique tourist destination to the other side of the world.
"I am still a Malaysian. Every time they ask me where I come from, I will say that I am from Malaysia and then I will promote my country to them, especially what we have here and how nice our country is," he explained.
He said all Malaysians should maintain the mutual respect and courtesy which they were famous for in order for the country to continue to be a famous tourist destination.
"As a Malaysian, our courtesy is our asset, to be more popular among the foreigners. If we do not inculcate the culture anymore, it is feared that our tourism industry will deteriorate,
