The Klana Resort, a leading hotel here, is expanding its ballroom and adding on another four seminar rooms at an estimated cost of RM6 million.
Its General Manager, Shamsul Kamar Ahmad said the ballroom is being expanded to cater to a crowd of 1,200 people from its present capacity of 900 people.
"Besides this, we are also adding on four seminar rooms with a capacity of 100 people per room. The project is being carried out in line with current development and needs.
"We are undertaking this project because many large events are held here and to cater to the large number of guests who turn up, we had to expand the ballroom," he told Bernama here Tuesday.
The ballroom will be refurbished with new and sophisticated facilities as well.
Work on the project started in April and it is expected to be completed by end of this August.
The four-star hotel is owned by the Negeri Sembilan state government under the Menteri Besar Inc (MBI).

Mutiara Beach Resort slated to reopen in 2012
THE Mutiara Beach Resort in Penang will finally reopen in 2012, some six years after the closing down of its operations.
The hotel, located at Jalan Teluk Bahang in Tanjung Bungah, is owned by Tradewinds Corp Bhd (TCB).
TCB chairman Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas said that the 21-year-old hotel is set to undergo a RM100m million renovation and refurbishment.
"We just started work on the hotel recently," Megat Najmuddin told Business Times.
"Cost (of renovation) is estimated at RM100 million and we are at the design stage," he said, adding that rooms and large suites are being planned.
When asked about likely date for the hotel opening, Megat Najmuddin said: "Opening would depend on many factors, maybe (we will open) in 2012," he said.
"We are confident of doing well, otherwise we won't be refurbishing it. Batu Feringgi hotels are doing okay now," he said.
TCB, whose hotel portfolio includes Hotel Istana and Mutiara Johor Baru, has decided that it will manage Mutiara Beach Resort on its own.
While he said it will be difficult to predict the likely average room rate (ARR) and occupancy the hotel will garner when it opens, he said that the hotel will be in the five-star category.
The hotel was to be renovated as a an InterContinental Resort Penang. However, early last year, both the hotel owner and the international hotel operator decided to mutually terminate the contract.
Its chief executive officer Shahrul Farez Hassan then said that it was relooking at its options as there were some weaknesses in the market and when the weaknesses will abate.
The hotel scrapped its initial plans to halve the room inventory and build luxury residences there.
TCB had at that time planned to reduce the inventory of the 438-room property to 220 rooms and include 80 units of luxury residences.
The residences were to be sold at around RM500 per sq ft and leased back. The hotel was supposed to reopen at the end of 2008.
The re-opening date was then changed to mid-2009.
TCB also owns the Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur and Hilton Petaling Jaya but is managed by international hotel chains.

The New Romantic Ballroom at Swiss Garden KL
Couples planning to wed soon can check out the new romantic ballroom at Swiss-Garden Hotel Kuala Lumpur, replete with state-of-the-art audio visual facilities that promise to make your wedding memorable.
The Grand Hibiscus Ballroom is the latest addition to the hotel facilities, with 540sq metres of function space that can comfortably seat 400 people banquet style (40 tables) or 600 participants theatre-style, and can even be split up into two smaller rooms.
According to hotel corporate marketing communications manager Linda Evelyn Wong, the ballroom was opened last December and has since hosted several weddings.

Dynasty Hotel goes through RM30mil upgrading work
AFTER 15 years in the service industry, Dynasty Hotel will be greeting its guests with a new look.
The hotel is undergoing a RM30mil upgrading work over three phases.
Under its executive director, Lim Soo Ka, the company has decided to refurbish the rooms, public areas and the food and beverage department.
“It has been a long time since we have had renovations.
“We want to attract new market segments especially from the Middle Eastern countries while maintaining our current India and China markets,” he added.
Lim said the management also saw this as an opportunity to add value to the customer’s stay in the hotel.
Welcome: Lim (left) and Tan are looking forward to rolling out the red carpet for guests. Located in Jalan Ipoh, KL, the hotel is situated just a walking distance from the Putra World Trade Centre, LRT station and the monorail station.
The hotel has 788 rooms and the first phase of renovation began at 27 corporate floors and will end at the end of this month.
“We have removed the carpets and put tiles in its place and wooden flooring near the bed, the first floor involves 255 rooms in total,” added Lim.
The second phase is focused on the tower block and involves the same concept, however, there will be a difference between the corporate floors and the other markets.
As for the third phase, the management is looking at upgrading the hotel’s apartment suites, the two-bedroom and three-bedroom suites.
“We are planning to run a Home to Hotel Suites (H2HS) Programme where the suites will be offered to guests at a package price depending on the type of membership they choose to have,” added the recently appointed general manager Tan Jin Seng.
This package is aimed at frequent travellers who need accommodation while travelling.
A cosy place: The Executive Lounge serves tea and is a perfect place to enjoy a quiet afternoon. This programme according to Lim would benefit clients as they will save on room rates.
Tourists and business travellers looking for a private and personalised experience can check in at the executive floors.
There is a private check-in counter and guests will receive a basket of fresh fruits and cookies.
The executive floors located at the 25, 26 and 27 also comes with a butler service and internet access coupled with a lounge serving afternoon cocktails and drinks.
The entire hotel will also have wi-fi service and each room will have environment-friendly merchandise.
“We have always been looking at energy-saving bulbs, we also have placed green messages inside the bathrooms to remind our guests to help save the environment,” added Lim.
The four food and beverage outlets will also see a revamp in menus with a concept called “preserving the traditional but know the new”.
He was also happy to add that Empress KL, an addition to the Empress Sepang, Grand Pacific and Dynasty Hotel both in KL, is set to be launched in the first quarter of next year.
It is a three-star, 20-storey hotel in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman is set to wow business travellers and budget travellers alike.

Berjaya hotels to get RM130m facelift
BERJAYA Hotels & Resorts, the leisure arm of Berjaya Land Bhd, will spend close to RM130 million to refurbish its six hotels in the country, says its chief.
The company operates the Berjaya Langkawi Resort, the Berjaya Tioman Resort, the Berjaya Redang Resort, the Berjaya Georgetown Hotel in Penang, Colmar Tropicale in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang and the Berjaya Times Square Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Chief executive officer Joseph Won said despite the current economic downturn, the properties have generally maintained its revenue per available room.
The four-star properties recorded an average occupancy rate of 66 per cent for the financial year ended April 30 2009.
Won said he is expecting more visitors to Langkawi, Redang and Tioman next year, as the economy improves and the company embarks on promoting its properties aggressively.
"Malaysia is a beautiful country and it has a lot to offer but it needs to be more focused in promoting local tourism in a more controlled and organised fashion.
"Malaysia needs a roadmap so that all players, including the government, will have something more firm to look at and follow," Won said.
Won said Berjaya Hotels is spending RM30 million to refurbish the 502 rooms at Berjaya Langkawi.
It will spend another RM25 million in the second or third quarter of 2010 to improve the public areas at the resort.
"We have been refurbishing the rooms since August. We want to improve the appeal of our resort so it could compete more effectively," Won told Business Times in an interview.
Berjaya Hotels will also spend RM70 million to upgrade its 670-room Berjaya Times Square Hotel, the company's best-performing city hotel, beginning first quarter of 2011.
At the same time, the company will conduct minor renovation at the Berjaya Redang Resort.
It will spend some RM7 million to refurbish the two food outlets, after spending RM35 million to upgrade its 220 rooms last year.
"We are proud of Berjaya Redang. The average room rate during the peak period is RM550 and due to high level of demand for rooms during this season, we are looking to raise the rates next year," Won said.

Carcosa Seri Negara will be closing on January 2010
