The city is ready to welcome its first hotel since the Asian financial crisis with the opening of Grand Paragon Hotel here soon.
Construction of the RM200mil hotel was abandoned for seven years during the economic crisis and the project’s revival marked a new era for Johor tourism.
Among the highlights of the hotel are a first-of-its-kind sky lounge on the 27th floor where guests can relax and be entertained by a stunning view of the city’s skyline.
An infinity pool on the high-rise will give a panoramic experience for discerning guests, while the whole hotel will be equipped with wireless Internet access.
Honeymooners will be spoilt for choice with specially-designed private suites and balconies.
Ready for launch: Pang displaying some new cutlery at the hotel in Johor. General manager Don Pang said the hotel was positioned as a four-star business hotel that aimed to eventually move to the five-star category.
He said the hotel planned to start with 100 rooms on its launch on Oct 23 and would open the remaining rooms according to the demand.
Among the services planned were a cold towel and a selection of local fruits for guests as they check in.
“Offering local fruits is a way to promote our culture,” said Pang, adding that the hotel would provide a children’s playroom on Level 11 for patrons to enjoy peace of mind.
Pang said there were plans to offer themed-wedding receptions and dinners for creative patrons seeking something extra.
“We specially selected the decor and cutlery to give our guests an enjoyable experience,” he said.
Pang said he was confident the hotel would do well despite the economic downturn.
“We are moving in line with the Iskandar Development Region project and hope to support the Government’s initiative by welcoming locals, tourists and investors to the city,” he said.
Pang added that the hotel hoped to tap on the spill-over effects of Integrated Resorts in Singapore.
