Lotus Corporation Bhd chief operating officer Datuk Ramalingam Pillai said that children and adults alike could enjoy themselves at the theme park.
“The water park dubbed the Desaru Explorer is JB’s first world-class water park within a resort,” he said.
“The park offers the latest water-based amusements, with special play equipment dedicated to children and a relaxing social atmosphere for adults,” he said.
Ramalingam explained that the theme park would consist of a lagoon area with a waterfall, the children’s Oasis adventure which is an aqua play area, and a children’s pool and activity area with a maximum capacity of 75 “screaming” children.
“Besides those attractions, encircling the area is a twisty river slide,” he said, adding that the slide takes a path through the Oasis.
He said the 300m river flows through a series of secluded lagoons and a 10m tunnel accompanied by sounds and visual effects.
Lotus Corporation took over the resort formerly known as Impiana Beach Resort two years ago.
Ramalingam said the resort underwent major upgrading and renovations a year ago costing more than RM50mil.
Other water sports activities are jet-skiing, banana boat rides, kayaking, snorkelling and fishing, besides 4X4 adventuring, light aircraft flying lessons and a firefly tour close to the resort.
He said the hotel offered more than 2,000 rooms at between RM160 and RM736 per night.
