Malaysia Embassy In Paris To Intensify Tourism Promotion

The Malaysian Embassy in Paris, France will continue to help boost travel and tour to Malaysia, especially in the wake of poor global economic situation and the outbreak of Influenza A (H1N1) pandemic.

Malaysia Ambassador to France Datuk S. Thanarajasingam said as the global developments had inevitable affected the tourism industry, efforts must be doubled to promote it.

"The pandemic will definitely affect travel, the airlines and the tourism industry.

"Here in Paris, apart from the Embassy, I can assure you that Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Airlines are redoubling their efforts to promote travel and tourism trade to Malaysia," he said in his speech at the Malaysian Family Day held at the Moulin Sports Centre in Gif-sur-Yvette near, Paris yesterday.

The event was held in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin's birthday.

The speech text was e-mailed to Bernama today.

The event was attended by some 150 people including staff of the embassy, Malaysian agencies, Malaysian Association in France (MAF) members, and Malaysian students studying in Paris.

Thanarajasingam also reminded Malaysians in France on the 1Malaysia concept espoused by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He called on Malaysians in France to continue to be good citizens of integrity, industry and promoting friendship among people as well as with the French.
