Accor's Novotel brand adds one of Asia's key business and tourism hubs to its fast expanding network with the opening of the new Novotel Hydro Majestic Kuala Lumpur on 18 September. Strategically located within the heart of Kuala Lumpur's Golden Triangle, the hotel is only a short stroll away from the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and Petronas Twin Tower.
The immediate neighbourhood surrounding the 28-storey Novotel Hydro Majestic Kuala Lumpur offers one of the most dynamic and popular entertainment areas found anywhere in Asia - The Bintang Walk. It is considered Malaysia's answer to Japan's famous Ginza district with its outdoor cafés and trendy shops offering endless options for both dining and shopping.
Accor Asia Pacific Managing Director Michael Issenberg said the opening of Novotel Hydro Majestic Kuala Lumpur was a strategic addition to the Novotel brand network in the region.'Novotel's brand profile continues to grow in key commercial capitals around Southeast Asia.
Novotel Hydro Majestic Kuala Lumpur is the latest in a series of important hotel openings in 2006, following the launch of Novotel Mangga Dua in Jakarta last year and the renovation of Novotel Clarke Quay in Singapore,' Mr Issenberg said.
'Kuala Lumpur is a regional financial centre and we are delighted to add Novotel Hydro Majestic Kuala Lumpur to the global brand network. The Malaysia economy is booming and tourist arrivals are increasing rapidly, so Accor believes the timing couldn't be better to enter the market.'
All 291 rooms at Novotel Hydro Majestic Kuala Lumpur incorporate the latest Novotel design features, targeting a new generation of Asian travellers looking for modern, stylish accommodation. The hotel has six 'Biz Floors' on the 23rd to 28th floors supported by a 'Biz Lounge' on the top floor.
The new Novotel room has been redesigned to offer guests greater comfort and functionality, appealing both to business and leisure travellers alike.
Guest rooms are equipped with broadband internet connectivity, satellite television and in-house entertainment channels, laptop sized safety box, modern open plan bathroom in all Biz Rooms and Executive Suites, plus a large desk with generous workspace.
The hotel's food and beverage facilities include 'The Square', the Novotel brand's own interactive multi-cuisine concept restaurant. The Square is being launched in Kuala Lumpur following successful openings in Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok and Beijing. The Square takes 'interactive dining' to new heights with over 100 dishes available and cooked to order a la minute in an attractive open kitchen.
Other food and beverage outlets unique to Novotel Hydro Majestic Kuala Lumpur include Qing Zheng Chinese Muslim Restaurant, Spiral Lobby Lounge, plus a Fun Pub and poolside bar. Each creates an innovative dining experience catering to the tastes of hotel guests and local residents.
Leisure facilities include a modern heath centre, swimming pool and Spa Centre (opening January 2007) for guests who wish to be pampered. Or they can walk to the nearby 20-hectare KLCC Park for hours of leisurely pleasure, or run around its well-designed jogging track.
Meeting and incentive planners will find the hotel's primary meeting space, with a capacity of 300 for cocktail functions, well suited for corporate events and team building. There are also three additional break out rooms for smaller events.
With the opening of Novotel Hydro Majestic Kuala Lumpur Accor now manages 72 Novotel hotels in 14 countries around Asia Pacific. A further 17 Novotels are scheduled to open over the next two years.
Novotel Hydro Majestic Kuala Lumpur is celebrating the hotel opening with a special opening rate of RM198 a night until 31 December 2006. Bookings can be done directly to the hotel on tel: (603) 2147-0888, fax (603): 2147-0889.

Shangri-La Hotels to use 'Essence of Shangri-La' scent in Lobbies
Sep 08, 06 1:57 am
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has introduced a signature “Essence of Shangri-La” scent in the lobbies of selected Shangri-La hotels and resorts in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
The scent is fresh and clean, subtly Asian, and is said to evoke sensations of serenity and calm. The delicate aroma, six months under development, was inspired by the concept of Shangri-La itself – the legendary land of exquisite harmony and beauty described in James Hilton’s 1933 novel Lost Horizon. The scent’s bottom notes of vanilla, sandal and musk are highlighted by top notes of light bergamot and tea spiced with ginger.
The safe, non-allergenic, water-based fragrance is gently dispersed by an atomization system which features anti-bacterial and anti-smoke benefits as well.
“We want all our guests to feel that they have arrived at a safe and comforting haven, as soon as they walk through our doors, and we will spare no detail to create that sensation,” said Symon Bridle, chief operating officer. “Essence of Shangri-La adds another sensory layer of welcome to all who enter and enhances the overall Shangri-La experience.”www.shangri-la.com
