Buses carrying ads on Tourist Spots

THE next time a tourist boards a Perak Roadways Bhd bus, he or she will get a good idea of where to go while on holiday in Perak.

From now until April 2009, 15 of the company’s 40 buses are displaying stickers of the state’s many tourist destinations.

“Since the buses ply routes to all over Peninsular Malaysia and even Singapore and Thailand, many will see the advertise-ments,” said state Agriculture, Agro-based Industries, Tourism, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan.

He was speaking at a ceremony to flag off the buses in Ipoh on Saturday.

He said it was joint event between Perak Tourism Action Council and the company in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2007.

“We hope to register about three mil- lion tourist arrivals in Perak this year,” said Mohd Radzi, adding that the target would bring in a projected RM1.2bil in revenue for the state.

Perak Roadways director Amirudin Tajuddin said the 15 buses would make two trips a day to Singapore and once a day to Betong in Thailand.

They will also go to places like Shah Alam, Kajang, Malacca and Penang.
